American Tower Manager, Financial Analytics in Woburn, Massachusetts


The Shared Services organization provides customized solutions and strategic decisions, utilizing data and information to optimize the long-term value of the Company’s existing technology, processes, and US tower assets. As a part of Shared Services, the Strategic Analytics team focuses on the centralized management of data, and reporting, oversight and allocation of capital budget activities and the analytics of asset-level data across US Tower’s portfolio to maximize the profitability, efficiency and longevity of key business processes representing 70% of the entire company’s revenue and of 40,000 assets in the US.

The Manager, Financial Analytics, analyzes and prioritizes site improvement projects and asset level data to enhance the quality, marketability and overall value of assets. Primary functions include, but are not limited to, asset analysis and evaluation, project evaluation, financial modeling, financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, profitability analysis, strategic analysis and project prioritization, all of which ensure that asset improvements satisfy business initiatives and meet financial and strategic goals. The incumbent will obtain, culminate and communicate financial, operational and asset information, and deliver value-added business analysis while defining and measuring meaningful metrics throughout all products and services that leads to wise capital investments and preparing various reporting packages and summaries of results to be used by various levels within the organization. The Manager is also responsible for establishing and maintaining strong connections, relationships and procedures for proactively informing and updating all key stakeholders, including Sales, Operations, Finance and Legal, regarding relevant capital and asset activities.


  • Refineand execute a comprehensive process for allocation of budgeted dollars for siteimprovements on wireless assets, factoring impacts of need, scope of work,estimated expenses, future growth, lease terms and overall profitability.

  • Provideguidance and strategic direction to team, with direct oversight of the program.

  • Evaluatescope of work and pricing for all activities prior to release to NetworkOperations and/or Network Development team(s) to ensure they meet requiredbudgetary restraints.

  • Accountablefor the criteria used in the allocation and distribution of the annual budget,ensuring that only projects with the greatest return on investment are releasedto production.

  • Identifyand implement process improvements and cross-functional initiatives that createa more productive environment for site improvement spending.

  • Obtainfully audited financial leasing and obligations/constraints data, along withscope of work verification and provide same to Financial Planning & Analysisteam and senior leadership for review and approval.

  • Presentto management audited monthly, quarterly and annual financial and operationalreports that illustrate controls over the actual, planned and proposed spend ofcapital improvement dollars.

  • Overseethe preparation of financial models and account for the quality of the inputsand outputs and the “go/no go” decision on discretionary spend that ensures allinvestments improve the useful life of tower assets.

  • Ensureall requests, projects and budgets are properly tracked by the team and providereal-time information with focus on milestone data integrity in order to easilycommunicate program updates and expected timelines.

  • Collaboratedirectly with Network Operations, Network Development and Finance to developbest practices, adapting to changing business needs or drivers and ensuringstakeholder alignment.

  • Identifyand implement systems optimization opportunities geared toward leveraging the team’sefforts.

  • Ensureall applicable processes, procedures and policies are supported, documented,well communicated and adhered to in a consistent and repeatable manner.

  • OverseeCommon Area Maintenance Billing for tenants

  • Proactivelyprovide analytics, solutions and opportunities to key stakeholders.

  • Usedata extracted from external and internal systems to build and manage accuratereports and presentations for internal use to enhance the Company’s strategicdecision making capabilities.

  • Superviseand manage the performance of a team comprised of Analysts and Specialists dedicatedto capital improvement programs, asset analytics and asset intelligence

  • Createstrong collaborative team environment.

  • Recruit, develop and retain staff, partneringwith Sr. Management, Recruiting and Human Resources. This includes on-boardingand orientation for new hires.

  • Provide disciplined performance management for team. Define and communicate annualgoals, perform formal and informal performance reviews, and ensure changes andupdates are communicated in a timely and professional manner.

  • Proactively identify and resolve personnelissues in conjunction with Human Resources


  • Proven Project and Program Management skills with adisciplined approach to consistent implementation.

  • Excellentability to analyze construction scopes of work and determine a good/better/bestcourse of action based on defined standards of care.

  • Bachelor’sdegree or equivalent experience required.

  • Minimum3 years of financial oversight and budgeting experience required.

  • Minimum5 years telecommunications industry construction experience (i.e., costing,bidding, scheduling, etc.) required.

  • Minimum3 years of management experience required.


Approximately 80% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Approximately 20% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel and crouch, lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds.
